Arriola's Taco Cats: 1:6:12.5. An automated taco stand in the
35th century in the utopian timeline resulting because of Samaritans timetravel.
[Reference to Arriola, a mexican artist.]
Binderbeck Plaza: 1:4:5.4. The heart of Astro City, formerly the Dutch section of the
town. Binderbeck is a reference to Otto Binder and C.C. Beck, the
creators of the original Captain "Shazam" Marvel.
Biro Island: 1:1:14.1. Has a jail (1995). [Homage to Golden Age artist Charles Biro,
creator of Crime Doesn't Pay.]
Briefer's: 1:2.3. In 1959, a store in Astro City. [homage to comic
strip artist Dick Briefer (1940's Frankenstein).]
Chesler: 1:3:1.2 A down-run neighbourhood in Astro City, usally called "the Sweatshop"
on account of the many little businesses situated there.
[Chesler is a reference to "Harry a. Chesler", a well known Golden Age comics-sweatshop.]
Cicero Street: 1:1:14.3. [Cicero was the name of the cat in the "Mutt and jeff" comic-strip] NAI.
Elias Street: 1:2:9.1. Has a subway station. [Homage to artist Lee Elias.]
Estrada Pavilion: 1:6:4.2. Site of an auto show. [Ref to artist Ric Estrada, for his
HOT WHEELS work.]
Fass Gardens: 1:4:4.1. A neighbourhood in Astro City. The name is a reference to
artist Myron Fass.
Feldstein's Bar & Grill: 1:2:19.3. An establishment in 1959 Astro City.
[Homage to EC and Mad editor Al Feldstein.]
Gaines River: 2:8:4.3. One of the two rivers between which Astro City is located,
this is a reference to either M.C. or Bill Gaines, father and son, the first was instrumental
in getting DC comics from the ground in the 1930ties/1940ties, the latter took over his
father's comics company EC and made it into one of the best publishers ever, creating
amongst other titles the original MAD.
Goscinny's: 1:6:7.4, Goscinny's fine dining is the restaurant where Samaritan and
Winged Victory first went to on their date. Goscinny was one of the creators of the
French comic Asterix.
Grandenetti Avenue: 1:4:2.1. A street at the edge of Shadow Hill. The name is a reference
to artist Jerry Grandenetti.
Grant, Miller Conroy, McConnel & Ingersoll: A law firm in Astro City, of which Darcy Conroy,
the fiancee of Nick Furst is one of the partners. [Grant, Miller, McConnel & Ingersoll are
comics-fans/semipros and lawyers]
Groza's: 1:4:11.2. A bakery in Shadow Hill.
Haney, Senator: 1:6:7.1. NAI. [Reference to DC comics writer Bob Haney]
Harold Jordan Memorial High School: 1:1:8.1 Mentioned in First Family article.
Homage to the real Green Lantern, Hal Jordan.
Iger Square: 1:1:2:19.3. Has a subway station. [Home to G.A. artist
Jerry Iger, co-founder with Will Eisner of "Igers sweatshop", a G.A. studio.]
Kiefer Street: 1:4:2.1. A street in Shadow Hill, crossing Grandenetti Avenue. NAI
Maneely's: 1:2:3. Store in Astro City, 1959. [Homage to Atlas artist
Joe Maneely.]
Marston, Judge: 1:6:7.1. NAI. [Homage to William Moulton Marston, creator of Wonder Woman
and inventor of the lie-detector]
Mooney's Pizza: 2:8:5.1 A pizza parlor in A.C., this is a reference to Jim Mooney, known
for his work on Supergirl.
Mount Kirby: 1:4:1.1. The mountain overlooking Shadow Hill(qv).
Named after Jack "King Kirby. "We all live in the shadow of Mount Kirby."

Rensie Avenue: 1:4:4.1. A neighbourhood in Astro City. It's a homage to a well-known
comics creator. According to Kurt Busiek: "Think Zatanna".
Romeyn Falls: The original name of Astro City. A headline from the "Romeyn
Falls Democrat-American" is displayed in the Deadline, 1959. [Homage to Romeyn, first
cartoonist known to have signed his work.]
Sekowsky Street: 1:6:24.2. Reference to DC Silver Age JLA artist Mike Sekowsky.
Stallman Street: 1:6:8.2. NAI. [Reference to?]
Toth's Fineries: 1:2.3. In 1959, a store in Astro City. [Homage to artist Alex Toth.]
Tripp's: 1:2.3. In 1959, a store in Astro City.
